Wife's Expression of Love

The special occasion I would like you to write about is not any date you can find on a calendar. After many years together the several times I tried to walk away, my husband and I are moving forward toward a future together with me realizing how lucky I am that he was not another kind of man. He has wonderful qualities as a husband and a friend, but I would pick on him for the stupidest things he would do. I hurt him a lot over the years, but he wouldn’t give up. My mood swings would drive him crazy. We have two sons and he believed if he stuck it out long enough, I would come to my senses…and we would remain a family I thank God I did come to my senses. I learned a lot about myself through therapy which explained my feelings and behavior and allowed me to move forward in gratitude and love. Believe me, any other guy would have given up. We did have some wonderful times, for sure and I would like you to mention that. We moved out of state, into a new house and are ready to start the rest of our lives together in love and appreciation. I want something in writing that we can both look at and remind us of how far we came. Thank you.

How did I get so lucky?
You’ve taught me the meaning of love.
You show me every day of my life
that I am well-thought of.
There are many wonderful qualities
that you alone possess.
Yet, I dwell on some of your habits
that annoy me, nevertheless.
You’d think that I’m the perfect one,
who never does anything wrong.
Anyone else would have thrown me out,
But, you believed in us all along.
Family means the most to you,
You could see no future with out it.
You saved this marriage, for sure;
There is no doubt about it!
You suffered through my moodiness;
Extreme laughter, depressing tears.
We’ve moved beyond our troubled past;
How did you last all these years?
I look ahead with love in my heart
for the incredible man that you are.
Don’t think I don’t know that it’s because of you
That we’ve managed to come this far.
