Anniversary Toast - Special Occasion Poetry

Information Provided:

My parents, George and Marie met at a bowling alley in Humboldt Saskatchewan, married two years later, July 28, 1954 in Burr Saskatchewan. Moved to Drayton Valley, Alberta in 1956. Janice born 1955, Allen born 1956, Denise born 1959. Lived in 12' by 24' shack for three years, then moved into 3 bedroom house that Dad built all by himself after work and on weekends. They still live in that town today. George retired in 1989, Marie retired in 1994. Their hobbies are traveling, have been on 5 cruises, been to Hawaii many times Mexico, different parts of the U.S., love to spend time with family, have 8 grandchildren. George's hobbies are fishing, golf, hunting. Marie is active at church, helping out in the community and with her family. Both of them are very giving of their time to their family, and relatives and friends, helping out with anything they can; from moving to household repairs to cooking. This, in my opinion is their most special gift.

Anniversary Toast Generated:

In a Humboldt Bowling Alley,
in nineteen fifty two,
George and Marie found each other;
a dream about to come true.

Two years later, in Burr,
they embarked on a lifetime together,
Vowing to love each other,
and to brave the stormy weather.

Beginning in a little shack,
life placed on them demands.
But, soon they had a house of their own,
built by George's own hands.

Happily, then, Janice was born,
a daughter for them to love.
Allen arrived soon after,
another blessing from above.

Denise came three years later,
making the family complete.
Having them as parents
has truly been a treat.

Still residing in Drayton Valley,
retired both are they.
Dad's hobbies keep him busy,
as he greets each brand new day.

Golfing, hunting or fishing
are some fun ways he spends his time.
And if you cannot find him or Mom,
you might want to check the cruise lines.

'Cause they've already been on five cruises,
and they've flown to Hawaii, as well.
They plan to keep on traveling,
as far as we can tell.

Mom enjoys crocheting,
and for the church she does volunteer.
Her cooking and her baking
get tastier year after year.

No one is more dependable,
caring or willing to give.
You'd be hard pressed to find better people
as long as you shall live.

Ask any friend or relative,
and they'll tell you the same thing;
Having Marie and George in your life
will make your spirit sing!

Fifty years and eight grandchildren later,
as an example, there is no better.
They're sailing through the good times now,
and did brave the stormy weather.

So, lift up your glasses with love in your hearts,
as we toast them in good cheer.
And, we wish them the very best in life,
as they embark on the next fifty years!
