Valentine's Day
Wedding Proposal Poem
Information Provided:
I met Cindy at a time in my life when I thought marriage wasn’t in
my future. Ever! I dated, and even had an eight year long
relationship, but it just wasn’t meant to be. Two years ago, I went
to the wedding of a friend of mine, and sat at the table of friends
I grew up with. At the table was a single woman, who knew the same
friends for years, but somehow, we never did meet. Well, we hit it
off so well, and while dancing with a our mutual friend, she said
Cindy will give you her phone number if you ask. By the end of the
night we were already getting teased by our friends, saying…
“wouldn’t it be funny if you two get married?” We spent the whole
night talking, and we danced together. It was so warm and
comfortable. Well, I have my mother’s diamond ring and am ready to
pop the question. Can you help? I work in the casino business in
Atlantic City and she lived in Staten Island, New York. So it was
difficult at first. We spent hours on the phone, and managed to see
each other just about every week. She sold her house, I sold mine
and we bought one together. She is a great friend and a good
audience for my dry humor. I’m told I have a dry sense of humor and
she seems to love it. She makes me laugh too. We are both so happy.
She had some bad luck in love, too. Neither of us have children, and
we are both fifty-ish, so it’ll be just the two of us from here on.
A little dry humor would really make it sound like me.
Here's the Poem it generated:
How did we not meet each other, knowing the same circle of friends?
Thank God we sat at the same table at a wedding we did attend.
My heart had been so broken, again I had no date.
When was it gonna be my turn? How long do I have to wait?
All the good ones are taken, is what I’d come to believe,
But, there you sat across from me, were my eyes deceived?
I saw no man beside you, you appeared to be alone.
Could it be I’d have a dance partner, no longer on my own?
We hit it off from the beginning, laughing and feeling at home,
My mind began racing, how could I get the number of your phone?
But, that was never an issue, we both knew if felt just right.
I sure did get your number, and we’ve been together since that
night.
You sold your house on the “island”, and I sold mine as well,
Two people never were more happy, as far as I can tell.
You love my dry sense of humor, and for that I’m so grateful, you
see,
‘Cause dry humor can be annoying, but you love everything about me.
And there’s nothing I’d change if I had to, about the person you
are.
You’re beautiful in side and out to me, who knew we’d come so far?
So, it is with my mother’s diamond, that I’m down on bended knee,
And I ask you this Valentine’s Day to spend the rest of your life
with me.
Getting married later in life, I figure, what could possibly go
wrong?
It’s bound to be a success, you see, cause “’til death do us part
aint that long!”
Cindy….will you marry me?
Testimonial:
Well, I can really do it now. Thank you for giving me just the
"write" words to say. You did a beautiful job.
